Done. And dusted.

By July 20, 2018News

Well, time to pack it and rack it. GI Nats 2018 comes to a successful conclusion after some sensational racing and real enjoyment from all those who had the opportunity to participate. Already anticipating next year’s event is the big thing on everyone’s mind as 2018 rolls down with the usual end of Championship celebrations taking place this year at Pier Bar on the Thursday evening after an on Island presentation.

Absolutely great to share the stoke and enthusiasm for the festival side of GI Nats with every participant.

CONGRATULATIONS to all the Champions, but we all know everyone at the event was very clearly a winner in so many respects.

The long road home : Riders assisting with the unloading of masses of equipment from the Reef Adventure ferry at the conclusion of racing.

Huge thanks to everyone who again helped GI Nats become the sensational event that everyone has again enjoyed this year, including this man, Bill Craig who has been a powerhouse of local support on and around Green Island year round .

And, he finally made it. 6 months of careful and enthusiastic planning to participate in his second GI event went down the drain for Victorian Josh Buxton when he was struck down by gastro during a return flight from Europe 2 days prior to GI 2018. Scheduled to arrive the day before competition, Josh also faced a $5000 flight reschedule cost after being hospitalised in Dubai before being allowed to fly on to Melbourne en route to Cairns, where he finally arrived late Tuesday night. “Gutsy” effort in every respect of the word. Josh remains an enthusiastic supporter of the event and is really looking forward to helping promote a racing resurgence in and around Victoria.

Race crew : Day 6… After 5 epic days. Every picture tells a story. Thanks guys. Awesome effort.
